Thinking through the many details of a dream kitchen brings excitement, but the list can be quite extensive. Maybe you like clever pop-ups for plug-ins, smart cutting board areas to easily sweep scraps into the trash or custom cabinets and unique storage spaces to suit your Type A personality.

With so many things to consider, appliance selection, however, is that big detail that can make or break a dream kitchen. All appliances certainly are not created equal. So, here are a few that will make for a transformational kitchen experience.

A range like no other

Let’s face it, today’s appliances are smarter than ever and there are many ways they can make your kitchen life easier and more efficient. Dacor, owned by Samsung, recently rolled out what could be today’s most user-friendly, owner-intuitive kitchen appliance line on the market, says Mike Seabrook, general manager for Allstate Appliances, which has locations in Scottsdale and Las Vegas.

Dacor’s Modernist Collection comes with graphite-brushed stainless steel, which softens the stainless look while bringing unmatched durability, too.

“People fall over themselves for this stuff,” Seabrook said of the Dacor line. “For the past 20 years, stainless steel has been the big trend. … The graphite stainless adds a new touch and it still embraces that popular Mid-Century Modern design that’s really popular.”

The collection’s Dual-Fuel Pro Steam Range gas cook-top comes in 36 inch or 48 inch widths. It has fully-removable dual brass burners and steam cooking capabilities. Its WiFi “Smart iQ Control” system arrives with a seven-inch touchscreen panel that is like having a chef offering expert guidance as you cook. The screen suggests cooking times for certain dishes, offers recipes and other tips. The range and hood automatically work in unison to orchestrate the appropriate fan speed levels when you’re cooking. Whether you’re using it as a grill for burgers and steaming vegetables alongside the patties or cooking your favorite soup, this gas range is among the most versatile on the market today.

As is the case for the entire Modernist Collection, wifi capabilities keep each appliance continuously connected to Dacor’s service team, too. If a part fails, a Dacor technician reaches out to the owner to schedule a convenient time for a repair.

Oven and refrigerator that impress

Let the Modernist Collection’s Combination Double Oven take care of Thanksgiving turkey. The oven’s wifi will send detailed updates via smart phone, eliminating the need to constantly check on food. Steam and convection functions combine to help you create the perfect loaf of bread. And the oven’s dual fan technology rapidly removes food odors, making it possible to cook cookies and fish at the same time without mingling scents.

The Modernist Collection’s Refrigerator and Freezer Columns comes with touch open doors, hidden LED lighting and discreet control settings that light up with a tap on a conveniently located shelf near the fruit and vegetable bins. It also has FreshZone drawers with customizable temperatures and a dual ice maker with cocktail ice. Perhaps most impressive, this unit houses inside-the-door “iQ Remote View” dual cameras. Now, you’ll never forget anything on that grocery list!

The Dacor Modernist Collection refrigerator was also designed for those who may need to replace an older model Sub Zero unit. The refrigerator is sized so that there is no need to modify existing cabinetry for these situations, Seabrook explained.

Gaggenau Additions

Outside the Dacor brand, German-made Gaggenau offers its own distinctive and sophisticated ranges, ovens and refrigerators. The brand also shines with unique offerings that can round out a dream kitchen perfectly.

Gaggenau’s Full-Surface Induction Cooktop allows users to place pots and pans anywhere on its surface; the appliance senses it and heats that area for you.

For coffee lovers, bring the barista to you. Gaggenau’s CM 210 built-in, fully-automatic coffee machine is a wall unit that makes a coffee drink, regardless of how sophisticated the order. Simply program your drink specifics into a touch screen and the CM 210 does the rest. “This machine can literally make every drink that you’d find on the Starbuck’s menu,” Seabrook added.

Gaggenau’s wine preservation system is another critical piece for a dream kitchen. The unit allows for preserving a variety of different wines in their perfect temperatures. For example, reds can enjoy higher temperature, more humid zones while whites can chill in a cooler climate.

Learning about your new appliances

For customers who allow Allstate Appliances to assist in their dream kitchen creation, Seabrook and his team add an extra customer service touch by offering use and care classes called “Rock Your Kitchen, 101.”

These classes bring together customers who have purchased full kitchens to explain all the functions of their new appliances, how to use them, and how to clean and maintain them. It’s a hands-on experience as food is prepared in Allstate’s live kitchens. Customers even leave with a few new recipes to try in their own kitchens. In some cases, Allstate will even schedule a professional chef to come to the customer’s home to prepare a meal with the proud new kitchen owner, teaching him or her about the appliances’ many capabilities.

“You don’t want to try it all out for the first time when you have guests. You may not know how something works and it can look silly,” Seabrook added. “It’s one of the many unique ways we like to do business. It’s different, but we think it’s pretty cool.”
